The central highlands of Sri Lanka are home to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Asia. Many are within easy reach of Ella, Nuwara Eliya, and Horton Plains.
Top picks include Bambarakanda (Sri Lanka's tallest), Diyaluma (a 220m tiered cascade with infinity pools), Ravana Falls (Ella's most famous), Dunhinda (near Badulla), and Devon Falls near Nuwara Eliya. Other gems include St. Clair's, Laxapana, Aberdeen, and Bomburu Ella.
Most waterfalls are best visited during or just after the rainy season (May to August and October to December) when the flow is at its peak.
